This right here is a tasty beverage. It’s the perfect blend of tart and sweet. It is summer in a glass. It is utterly refreshing.
I’m not going to lie to you. You do need some special equipment to make this drink: a juicer. All the juice in this recipe should be made fresh. Cherries are a pain in the ass to pit, but I use this awesome little gadget to make it really easy.
Some tips: be sure to remove the pith from the limes before juicing them. The pith makes the juice really bitter. Also, be sure to wash all the fruit and ginger before you cut them up!
Cherry Limeade with Ginger
Makes about 2 quarts of drank
- 1 & 3/4 c. fresh cherry juice (about 1 lb. sweet, ripe cherries before they’ve been pitted)
- 3/4 c. fresh lime juice (about 5 fresh limes)
- 2-3 tbsp. fresh ginger juice (about a 3 inch piece of ginger)
- 2/3 c. water
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 4 c. filtered water (or sparkling water, like la croix)
Make a simple syrup: Heat up the 2/3 c. sugar and 2/3 c. water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Take off the heat and set aside to cool.
Mix up the juices, simple syrup, and water in a pitcher and stir. Pour in glasses over ice. Garnish with lime slices.
